How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Fence Erector

    Location: Alnwick, Northumberland, NE66 4EB

    Pay Rate: £14–£15 per hour, depending on experience

    Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00–18:00

    Job Type: Full-time

    About the Role

    We are looking for an experienced and reliable Fence Erector to join our team in Alnwick, Northumberland. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, repairing and maintaining a range of fencing systems across different sites.

    This is a practical, hands-on role suited to someone with construction or fencing experience who is comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Install and erect various types of fencing, including timber, steel, concrete, mesh and security fencing.

    * Measure and accurately mark out fence lines according to drawings, specifications and site requirements.

    * Dig post holes manually or using mechanical equipment.

    * Set and secure fence posts using concrete, Postcrete or other suitable materials.

    * Install fence panels, rails, boards, gates and associated fixings.

    * Cut and adapt fencing materials to suit different ground conditions and site layouts.

    * Install gates, locks, hinges and other access-control components where required.

    * Carry out repairs, replacements and maintenance to existing fencing.

    * Safely operate hand tools, power tools and relevant site machinery.

    * Read and work from site plans, drawings and specifications.

    * Ensure all work is completed to the required quality standards and tolerances.

    * Maintain a clean, safe and organised working area.

    * Follow all site health and safety procedures, risk assessments and method statements.

    * Wear appropriate PPE at all times.

    * Liaise with supervisors, site managers and other trades on site.

    * Load, unload and safely transport fencing materials and equipment.

    * Identify and report damaged materials, unsafe conditions or site issues.

    * Complete work within agreed timescales and to customer/client specifications.

    Key Skills & Experience

    Previous fencing or practical construction experience is preferred.

    Good knowledge and safe use of hand and power tools.

    Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

    Good level of physical fitness.

    Strong attention to detail.

    Ability to follow instructions and work to specifications.

    Good teamwork and communication skills.

    Reliable, hardworking and punctual.

    Strong commitment to health and safety.

    Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

    Valid CSCS card - beneficial but not essential
