How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Commissioning Engineer - SPEN Authorisation ESSENTIAL
    Location: Kincardine, FK10 4BL
    Contract: Temporary
    Position: 1
    Start Date: 01/09/2026
    End Date: 31/10/2026
    Hours: 50 hours per week
    Working Pattern: 10 hours per day, Monday-Friday
    Rate: £84.00 per hour
    IR35: Outside IR35

    The Role:
    We are looking for an experienced Commissioning Engineer to join a major substation project at Kincardine.

    The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting commissioning activities within a substation environment, working closely with the wider project and site teams to ensure commissioning activities are completed safely, efficiently and to the required standards.

    Strong previous substation experience is essential, with experience working on SP Energy Networks projects highly desirable.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Carry out commissioning activities in accordance with project requirements and approved procedures.
    Work closely with the site and commissioning teams to ensure systems are ready for testing and commissioning.
    Undertake commissioning checks, testing and verification of equipment as required.
    Identify and report any issues, defects or deviations during commissioning activities.
    Ensure commissioning activities are completed within the required programme.
    Review relevant technical documentation, drawings and commissioning procedures.
    Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with Health & Safety, Quality and Environmental requirements.
    Maintain accurate commissioning records and documentation.
    Coordinate with other disciplines and site teams to ensure efficient delivery of commissioning activities.
    Support the resolution of technical issues arising during commissioning.Requirements:

    Strong previous experience as a Commissioning Engineer within the power, energy or utilities sector.
    Previous substation commissioning experience is essential.
    Experience working on SP Energy Networks projects is highly desirable.
    Good understanding of substation systems, equipment and commissioning processes.
    Ability to interpret technical drawings, documentation and commissioning procedures.
    Strong Health & Safety awareness.
    Ability to work independently and as part of a wider project team.
    Strong communication and problem-solving skills.Qualifications:

    Relevant engineering qualification or equivalent industry experience.
    Previous SPEN project experience is highly desirable.
    Relevant substation commissioning authorisations or competencies would be advantageous.
    Additional industry-specific qualifications and safety certifications relevant to the role.Personal Attributes:
