How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

The successful candidate will have strong electrical design experience within an MEP/building services consultancy environment and will work closely with senior engineers and the wider project team. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer looking to develop their technical expertise, client-facing skills and career progression within a supportive consultancy.

    Responsibilities

Support senior engineers in the delivery and management of electrical building services projects.

Coordinate with internal teams and liaise with clients, architects, contractors and other consultants.

Contribute to technical design throughout the full project lifecycle.

Attend design team meetings, supported by an Associate Director where required.
Undertake site inspections and provide clear reports and feedback to the design team.

Carry out electrical design calculations to support engineering decisions on major building projects.

Develop designs in line with project briefs, specifications, budgets and programme requirements.

Take responsibility for allocated project tasks and deliver work to agreed deadlines.

Work collaboratively with other disciplines across the business.

Provide technical support to colleagues and contribute to the successful delivery of projects.

Maintain awareness of current Health & Safety and environmental requirements.

    Requirements

Minimum 3 years' experience within a UK Building Services or MEP Design Consultancy.

Degree in Building Services Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent industry qualification.

Strong knowledge of electrical building services design.

Experience using DIALux, Relux or similar lighting design software.
Experience using Amtech or similar cable sizing software.

Good working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Revit.

Good understanding of mechanical, sustainability and public health services within building projects.

    Strong communication and coordination skills.

Comfortable working with clients and attending design team meetings, or willing to develop these skills.

Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as part of a wider project team.

Commitment to professional development and ideally working towards Chartered Engineer status with a recognised engineering institution.

Search is an equal opportunities recruiter and we welcome applications from all suitably skilled or qualified applicants, regardless of their race, sex, disability, religion/beliefs, sexual orientation or age
