Smile Education East Midlands is currently recruiting for two experienced Teaching Assistants to join a challenging and rewarding Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in Leicester.
We are looking for confident, resilient and proactive TAs who have experience supporting pupils with complex needs, challenging behaviour, autism and significant social, emotional and behavioural difficulties.
These are not typical mainstream TA roles. The pupils can present with behaviours that are significantly more challenging than those generally seen in mainstream settings, so we are looking for candidates who have the experience, maturity and resilience to work effectively in this environment.
We are looking for candidates who:
Have proven experience supporting pupils with challenging behaviour and complex needs
Can remain calm and professional when behaviour escalates
Are confident building positive relationships while maintaining clear boundaries
Are proactive, flexible and able to think on their feet
Have excellent communication skills and work well as part of a team
Are emotionally resilient and confident supporting pupils safely
Are willing to get involved in learning and play activities
Have experience supporting pupils with autism and/or SEND
Are reliable, hardworking and committed to helping pupils make positive progressOne position will be working within an ASD group, where experience supporting autistic pupils and complex behaviour is essential.
The second position will support pupils with significant behavioural and learning needs, helping them to manage their behaviour and engage positively with education.
Team Teach training is desirable but not essential, provided you have relevant experience and are willing to undertake appropriate training.
