How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Technical Sales Manager

    Location - Northampton - UK and overseas travel required

    Hours - Monday–Friday 8:30AM – 5PM (Early finish on a Friday!)

    Office-Based with Flexible Hybrid Working

    Salary - DOE + Bonus + Expenses for travel 

    Please note this role requires flexibility to travel overseas and nationally occasionally for customer visits and product knowledge

    The Opportunity

    This is a fantastic role for someone who enjoys combining technical expertise with customer interaction and commercial opportunity. The successful candidate will become a key technical point of contact for customers, consultants, contractors and the wider sales team, helping to turn complex project requirements into practical, specification-ready solutions.

    Working closely with the Sales Director and Area Sales Managers, the Technical Sales Manager will support projects from initial concept and design through to specification and order, while also delivering technical training and providing expert advice across the business.

    The Technical Sales Manager will be responsible for providing expert technical support across the sales process, including:

    Designing project-specific solutions and layouts
    Preparing material take-offs, bills of quantities and schedules
    Reviewing engineering drawings, site plans and project specifications
    Recommending suitable products and solutions based on project requirements
    Supporting consultants, architects, contractors, civil engineers and end users with technical advice
    Developing technical drawings, design details and specification documentation
    Supporting Area Sales Managers with project opportunities and technical proposals
    Attending customer meetings and project reviews where technical input is required
    Providing technical support from initial concept through to order placement
    Delivering product and application training to internal teams, customers, distributors, contractors and consultants
    Managing technical enquiries by telephone and email
    Investigating technical issues and customer complaints, identifying root causes and supporting corrective actions
    Producing technical reports and maintaining accurate CRM records
    Keeping up to date with product developments, installation practices and relevant industry standards
    Representing the business at exhibitions, customer events and industry functionsWhat are they looking for?

    The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background and experience within a construction, civil engineering, drainage, infrastructure or similar technical environment.

    They will ideally have experience in:

    Interpreting engineering drawings and project specifications
    Providing technical support to customers or sales teams
    Understanding construction projects and stakeholder requirements
    Producing technical proposals, designs or project documentation
    Delivering technical presentations or training
    Working with CRM systems and Microsoft Office
    Explaining technical information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiencesExperience with AutoCAD or similar drawing software, drainage design, hydraulic calculations or specification-led sales would be highly advantageous.

    A qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline would also be desirable.
