How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Location: Bolton
    Salary: Competitive, depending on experience
    Working Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday

    A fantastic opportunity has arisen within a modern and forward-thinking accountancy practice for an Accountant to join their growing team in Bolton.This role would suit an individual with previous accountancy practice experience who is AAT Level 3 qualified or currently working towards it, and is looking to develop their career within a supportive and technology-focused environment.

    Unlike a traditional accountancy practice, you will have the opportunity to manage your own portfolio of clients and gain broad exposure across accounts, VAT, payroll and general accounting, rather than being restricted to one particular area.The practice works predominantly with contractors, freelancers, sole traders and small limited companies, providing a varied client base and excellent opportunity to develop strong technical and client-facing skills.

    Accountant Job Overview

    Manage a portfolio of clients and provide support across their day-to-day accounting requirements.
    Assist with the preparation of accounts for sole traders and small limited companies.
    Prepare and assist with VAT returns and submissions.
    Support payroll processing and related administration.
    Act as a key point of contact for clients, responding to queries and providing ongoing support.
    Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships.
    Work across a range of cloud-based accounting systems and modern digital processes.
    Take responsibility for your own workload while receiving ongoing training and support from the wider team.
    Develop your knowledge across multiple areas of accountancy with clear opportunities for career progression.Accountant Job Requirements

    Previous experience working within an accountancy practice.
    AAT Level 3 qualified or currently studying towards AAT.
    Experience across accounts preparation, bookkeeping, VAT and/or payroll would be beneficial.
    Strong numerical ability with excellent attention to detail.
    Good written and verbal communication skills.
    Comfortable communicating directly with clients.
    Good IT skills and confidence using modern cloud-based accounting software.
    A proactive attitude with a genuine desire to develop a long-term career in accountancy.
    Able to work independently and manage a varied client workload.
