How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Electrical fitter/panel wirer

    Location: Biggleswade, Bedfordshire Job type: Permanent, full time Salary: £36,000 - £40,000 per annum

    The role

    We are recruiting an Electrical Fitter/Panel Wirer on behalf of a well-established engineering and manufacturing business based in Biggleswade, Bedfordshire. This is a hands-on, shop floor based role working within a skilled electrical fitting team, responsible for the electrical assembly and detailed fitting of complex bespoke machinery built to exacting quality standards.

    You will work from technical drawings to lay out and wire electrical panels, mount components and devices, and run cables and baskets to complete machine wiring. This is a role for someone who takes pride in their bench craft skills, has a methodical approach to their work, and is looking to champion builds from start to finish within a collaborative, close-knit production environment.

    Main responsibilities

    * Assemble and fit the electrical elements of special purpose machines, including panels, components, and devices

    * Work from technical drawings to accurately lay out electrical panels and mount components including servo drives, PSUs, and safety systems

    * Run and terminate cables and baskets to complete machine wiring, including conveyors, sensors, check weighers, and reject stations

    * Print and attach identification tag numbers to wire terminals in line with wiring drawings

    * Carry out earth bond testing and document pass certificates for machine manuals

    * Identify and red mark errors found in circuit drawings, escalating to the supervisor or design team

    * Assist the software and controls engineer with machine commissioning and support the test engineer with FATs

    * Support the breakdown and packing of machine builds for despatch

    * Maintain accurate production build documentation and complete timesheets daily

    * Adhere to all health and safety policies, COSHH requirements, and ISO 9001 quality standards

    Skills/experience

    Essential:

    * Apprenticeship trained or equivalent qualification such as City and Guilds, ONC, or NVQ Level 2

    * Minimum five years of experience in an electrical manufacturing environment

    * Experience in electrical panel work including layouts, trunking, and component mounting

    * Working knowledge of electrical components including servo drives, PSUs, and safety systems

    * Cable management, machine wiring, and HMI termination experience

    * Ability to read and work from technical drawings and wiring diagrams

    * Strong bench craft skills including marking, drilling, cutting, threading, and use of hand tools

    * Computer literate with competency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and ERP/MRP systems

    Desirable:

    * Electrical test and fault finding experience

    * Machine earth bond testing experience

    * Electro-mechanical experience

    * First Aid at Work certificate

    * HNC or HND qualification

    Salary & working hours

    * Salary: £36,000 - £40,000 per annum

    * Hours: 39 hours per week, Monday to Friday, daytime hours
