How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Software Engineer

    Location: Royston
    Salary: Up to £60,000

My client is a growing technology company developing innovative autonomous robotic systems. Following continued growth and investment, they are looking for an experienced Software Engineer to join their team and help develop the next generation of their robotic platforms.

This is a highly hands-on role where you will have the opportunity to work across software development, testing and physical hardware. You’ll be responsible for improving the performance, usability and capabilities of the company's machines, while investigating issues and identifying the root cause of problems through data, logs, experimentation and testing.

    The Role

    * Develop and improve software capabilities across autonomous robotic systems.

    * Work on improvements to usability, speed, accuracy and calibration.

    * Investigate bugs and performance issues using logs, user feedback, observations and experiments.

    * Develop, test and debug software directly on physical machines.

    * Work closely with Product and Platform teams to prioritise and deliver improvements.

    * Collaborate with other engineers to ensure software changes are robust, well-tested and suitable for production.

    * Help develop new functionality and improve existing systems as the company continues to scale.

    About You

My client is looking for an experienced Software Engineer with:

    * Strong experience with C# and .NET.

    * Experience with robotics is highly desirable, although ROS experience is not required.

    * If you don't have direct robotics experience, strong experience developing software that interacts directly with hardware or physical machines will also be highly relevant.

    * Some Python experience would be advantageous.

    * A hands-on approach and confidence testing your own software on physical hardware.

    * An evidence and experimentally driven approach to problem solving.

    * The ability to use multiple sources of information, including logs, data and testing, to identify the root cause of issues.

    * Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work closely with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

    What's on Offer?

This is an excellent opportunity to join a small, ambitious and growing technology company, where you will have significant influence over the development of its robotic platforms and the opportunity to work across both software and hardware.
