How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Claims Handler — Insurance | Bolton | £24,479 | Mon–Fri, 35 hours | Full training

Good at customer service and want a career rather than another front-line job?

We're recruiting a Trainee Claims Handler for an established general insurer just outside Bolton. You'll join as a Customer Service Advisor and be trained and developed into a full Claims Handler, managing household property claims from first notification through to settlement.

No insurance experience needed. This is a genuine trainee claims handler route — structured training, funded qualifications, and a clear path into a technical insurance career. What you need is a solid customer service background and the willingness to learn the claims side properly.

    What the job becomes

Once you're trained, as a Claims Handler you'll:

Take first notification of loss calls from policyholders
Assess policy cover and validate claims (full training provided)
Gather the documents and details needed to progress each claim
    Liaise with contractors and suppliers
Manage your own caseload from first notification to settlement
Keep customers updated and resolve queries as they come up
This isn't a scripted contact centre seat. You take ownership of claims and build real technical knowledge over time.

    What you'll need

Minimum 12 months in a customer service role — any sector
    Confident, professional telephone manner
Strong listening skills and attention to detail
Organised, comfortable juggling several things at once
    Competent across different computer systems
GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above
You don't need previous insurance experience. Your customer service approach and appetite to learn are what matter.

    What's on offer

£24,479, reviewed as you qualify and take on a full caseload
35-hour week, Monday to Friday — no evenings, no weekends
Structured training and a clear route from advisor to claims handler
Full support and funding towards CII qualifications
On site in Bolton with free on-site parking
Holiday allowance that increases with service, plus a holiday sell scheme
Your birthday off, and a half-day for seasonal shopping
Contributory pension, cycle to work scheme, discounted sports and social
Cash bonus for going above and beyond
    Casual dress, free branded clothing
Trained mental health and first-aid staff on site
    The honest bit

It's on site in Bolton, five days a week, and the first few months are a genuine learning curve — you'll be studying alongside the day job. The trade is a funded professional qualification and a career that doesn't cap out at advisor level. If you want to move beyond entry-level customer service and build something, this is the seat.

Apply now and we'll come back to you to talk it through properly — including who the employer is and what the training actually looks like
