Assistant Estimator Opportunity
A progressive dry lining and joinery subcontractor is looking for an Assistant Estimator or Junior Estimator to join its commercial team in Blackfriars.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with construction estimating experience who wants to develop within a successful specialist contractor. Previous dry lining, joinery, interiors or fit-out experience would be ideal, although candidates from other specialist subcontracting or similar estimating backgrounds will also be considered.
You will work alongside experienced estimators and commercial professionals, supporting tenders from initial enquiry through to submission and handover.
The Role
As Assistant Estimator, your responsibilities will include:
Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documents.
Completing accurate material and labour take-offs.
Preparing cost estimates for dry lining and joinery packages.
Obtaining quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
Analysing quotations and comparing rates.
Assisting with bills of quantities, cost plans and tender submissions.
Identifying commercial risks and tender opportunities.
Supporting value engineering exercises.
Maintaining pricing information and tender records.
Attending site visits and tender meetings when required.
Supporting the handover of secured projects to the commercial and operational teams.
Developing your technical knowledge of dry lining, joinery and interior packages. As your experience develops, you will take responsibility for your own tenders and build relationships with clients, suppliers and subcontractors.

Candidate Requirements
The successful Assistant Estimator will ideally have:
Previous estimating experience within construction.
Experience with dry lining, joinery, interiors or fit-out packages would be advantageous.
Candidates from other specialist subcontractor or similar estimating backgrounds will be considered.
Experience completing take-offs and reviewing construction drawings.
An understanding of tendering, pricing and procurement processes.
Good numerical, analytical and organisational skills.
Strong attention to detail.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
A construction-related qualification would be beneficial but is not essential. Applications are welcomed from Assistant Estimators, Junior Estimators, Trainee Estimators and commercially minded Assistant Quantity Surveyors with relevant tendering experience.
