How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    * Maintain and develop job evaluation frameworks, records and supporting documentation.
    * Analyse role, pay and workforce data to inform grading decisions and identify trends or areas for improvement.
    * Review and develop HR policies, ensuring fairness and compliance with employment legislation.
    * Provide specialist advice on complex HR matters, including conduct, performance, attendance, grievances and organisational change.
    * Support organisational projects requiring HR, policy or job evaluation expertise.
    * Work collaboratively with managers, HR colleagues, senior leaders, colleague networks and trade unions.
    * Contribute to Equality Impact Assessments, manager guidance and training while maintaining consistently high standards of accuracy.
    About You
    * Significant and proven HR experience within a local authority environment is essential.
    * Direct experience of undertaking job evaluations using the NJC GLP framework is essential.
    * Strong knowledge of job evaluation principles, role design, grading and pay structures.
    * Experience advising managers on evaluation outcomes and resolving grading queries or challenges.
    * Good understanding of employment law, HR policies and recognised HR practice.
    * Experience developing, reviewing and implementing HR policies and procedures.
    * Experience providing advice on complex employee relations casework.
    * Strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail and the ability to make evidence-based recommendations.
    * Experience working confidently with managers, senior leaders, HR colleagues and trade unions.
    * Ability to work independently in a predominantly remote role, attend the client’s office when required and understand the local area.
Please only apply if you have both proven local authority HR experience and direct NJC GLP job evaluation experience.
    Personal Qualities
