How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Competitive Salary
    Core hours: 7:30am – 4:30pm Mon-Thurs and Fri 7:30am – 1:30pm.
    Travelling will be required.
    The Role
    This is a hands-on business development role focused on identifying and securing new fabrication and manufacturing opportunities.
    You will be responsible for developing new customer relationships, generating enquiries, securing quotation opportunities and converting prospects into long-term customers. Working closely with our engineering and production teams, you will play a key role in growing our customer base and increasing sales revenue.
    Key Responsibilities
    *
    Develop new business opportunities within defence, marine, rail and industrial engineering sectors.
    *
    Research and identify target customers requiring fabrication, welding, machining and assembly services.
    *
    Generate and qualify leads through networking, industry events and direct customer engagement.
    *
    Arrange and attend customer meetings throughout the UK.
    *
    Build relationships with buyers, procurement teams, engineers and project managers.
    *
    Manage enquiries from initial contact through to quotation and order placement.
    *
    Maintain and develop a healthy sales pipeline.
    *
    Identify opportunities for repeat business and long-term partnerships.
    *
    Represent at customer sites, trade shows and industry events.
    Requirements
    Essential
    *
    Proven track record in engineering, fabrication or manufacturing sales.
    *
    Experience developing new business opportunities.
    *
    Strong commercial and negotiation skills.
    *
    Confident communicator with the ability to engage at all levels.
    *
    Self-motivated and results driven.
    *
    Full UK Driving Licence.
    Desirable
    *
    Knowledge of fabrication, welding, machining or metalworking processes.
    *
    Experience supplying the defence, marine or rail sectors.
    *
    Existing industry contacts.
    *
    Ability to understand engineering drawings and specifications.
