How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    The Role

As Third in Charge, you will support the Nursery Manager and Deputy Manager in maintaining the safe, effective and high-quality operation of the nursery.

You will lead the Preschool Room, provide guidance to practitioners and ensure children receive engaging, age-appropriate learning experiences aligned with the EYFS.

Key responsibilities include leading room practice, supporting staff development, overseeing planning and assessments, promoting school readiness, maintaining high safeguarding standards and building positive relationships with parents.

You will also take responsibility for the safe and effective running of the nursery when the Nursery Manager and Deputy Manager are absent.

    Curriculum & School Readiness

You will deliver a structured and engaging educational programme for children aged 3–5 years, with a focus on early literacy, mathematics, language development, understanding the world, problem solving and curiosity.

You will support children's personal, social and emotional development, independence, confidence and readiness for school, while maintaining an effective balance between adult-led teaching and child-initiated play.

    About You

We are looking for an experienced Preschool Room Leader with a genuine passion for early years education and the confidence to take on wider leadership responsibilities.

You will need a relevant Level 3 or above Early Years qualification, previous room leadership experience, strong knowledge of the EYFS and safeguarding requirements, and excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.

An Early Years Degree, QTS or EYTS would be highly desirable, as would experience working with children aged 3–5, delivering structured learning activities, completing observations and assessments, or working as a Deputy or Third in Charge.

    The Ideal Candidate

You will be a warm, patient and nurturing professional who can lead and motivate a team while maintaining consistently high standards of education, care and safeguarding.

You will be organised, proactive and confident communicating with children, parents and colleagues. Most importantly, you will be passionate about children's development and committed to creating an environment where children can learn, explore and thrive.

    Location

The nursery is based in Royal Wharf, London, E16 2SQ, approximately 10 minutes' walk from Pontoon Dock and West Silvertown DLR stations and 15 minutes' walk from the Elizabeth Line.
