How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Our client, Skegness train station (East Midlands Railway), is currently extremely busy over the Summer period and is now in need of some additional Customer Service Assistant help to join the team we recruited earlier - people working on the platforms to cope with the volume of holidaymakers coming to Skegness for their summer breaks by train on the Skegness Summer Special service and then heading back home afterwards.

Working 2-4 shifts per week (days available are Mondays, Fridays, Saturdays and possibly occasional Sundays).  Ideal for students and those looking for some extra cash over the summer period!

Do you have face to face customer service assistant experience?  Do you enjoy working with the public and assisting them? Would you be happy working on platforms and on the station concourse, helping passengers with their queries?

You will be assisting passengers with a variety of duties including queue management for people getting trains in the busiest times, assisting passengers getting on and off trains (particularly those with additional needs) and helping with luggage, ticket purchasing, platform location, scanning tickets, making tannoy announcements, clearing trains to assist cleaners in turnaround times and helping to talk to and direct/signpost the crowds at the station so that everyone has a great experience.

As a customer service assistant you will need to be a friendly individual with a level head who is able to deliver phenomenal customer service at the busiest times of the year.  If that’s you, then we want to hear from you for these customer service assistant roles!

Shifts:         Induction on Thursday 27/08/26 ideally.  First shifts from Friday 28/08/26 and will continue until end of September 2026 (possibly longer)

Pay Rate:    £12.80 per hour – paid weekly

Hours:        The service only runs on Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays each week (plus a couple of shifts possibly on a Sunday).  Additional shifts to fill are either 09:30-18:15, 12:00-20:00 or 12:00-20:45 initially.  Flexibility is ideal.

If this Customer Service Assistant role sounds like you then please do apply ASAP!
