How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Junior Electrical Engineer

    Location: Clevedon, Somerset
    Job Type: Permanent

    About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Junior Electrical Engineer to join an established building services consultancy in Clevedon.
This role would be ideal for someone at the beginning of their career who wants to learn how electrical systems are designed for buildings and develop into a professional Electrical Design Engineer.
You could be a recent college leaver, someone who has completed an electrical apprenticeship, or a graduate with an Electrical Engineering qualification.
You don't need previous consultancy experience - full training and support will be provided.

    What Will You Be Doing?

Working alongside experienced Electrical Engineers, you'll learn how electrical systems are designed for a wide range of buildings and projects.
Your day-to-day work will gradually include:

Helping to design electrical systems for buildings
Assisting with lighting and emergency lighting layouts
Learning about power and electrical distribution
    Helping with electrical calculations
    Producing and updating electrical drawings
Learning to use design software such as AutoCAD and Revit
Working with other engineers to coordinate building services
Helping to prepare technical documents and specifications
Attending occasional site visits to see how designs are put into practice
Developing your understanding of electrical standards and regulations
You'll start by supporting more experienced engineers and, as your knowledge develops, you'll gradually take on more responsibility.

    Who Are We Looking For?

We're interested in speaking with people who are at the start of their engineering career.
    You could be:

A recent college leaver with an electrical or engineering qualification
A Level 3 Electrical Engineering student looking for their first full-time role
    An Electrical Engineering graduate
Someone who has completed an electrical or engineering apprenticeship
An Electrical Technician looking for the next step
Someone with a practical electrical background who wants to move into design
We're not expecting you to know everything.
We're looking for someone who is:

    Interested in Electrical Engineering
    Keen to learn and develop
Comfortable working with computers and technology
Good with numbers and problem solving
Organised and able to pay attention to detail
    A good communicator
Able to work well as part of a team
Most importantly, you'll need to have the right attitude and be genuinely interested in developing a career in electrical design.

    Why Consider Building Services Design?

This is a great opportunity to build a long-term career in Electrical Engineering.
You'll learn how electrical systems are designed for real buildings, including:

    Lighting
    Small power
    Electrical distribution
    Containment
    Emergency lighting
Fire alarm and other electrical services
    Renewable technologies
You'll also develop valuable experience with industry-standard software such as Revit and AutoCAD.
As you gain experience, you'll be able to progress from a Junior Electrical Engineer into roles such as:
Electrical Design Engineer → Senior Electrical Engineer → Principal Engineer → Associate
There are also opportunities to specialise in areas such as BIM, sustainability, project management or specialist electrical engineering.

    About the Company

You'll be joining an established multidisciplinary building services consultancy with a strong presence across the South West.
The business works on a wide range of projects across sectors including education, healthcare, commercial, residential, industrial and public buildings.
You'll work alongside experienced engineers who can help you develop your technical knowledge and build a career within the industry.

    Apply Now

If you've recently finished college, university or an apprenticeship and are looking for your first opportunity in Electrical Engineering, this could be an excellent place to start your career.
Equally, if you have a practical electrical background and are interested in moving into design, we'd be happy to hear from you.
