How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Kenton Black are recruiting for a Freelance Site Engineer on behalf of a leading civil engineering and infrastructure contractor within the Aberdeenshire area.

    Role: Freelance Site Engineer
    Location: Peterhead
    Duration: 6 Months+
    Start Date: ASAP
    Rate: Competitive CIS/Ltd Company Rate (Dependent on Experience)

    Our client, a reputable infrastructure contractor, is seeking an experienced Site Engineer to support ongoing substation works in Peterhead. This is an excellent opportunity to join a major energy project, where you will play a key role in setting out, quality assurance, and ensuring works are delivered safely, accurately, and in line with project specifications.

    Key Responsibilities:

    - Carry out setting out and surveying duties for substation and associated civil engineering works
    - Ensure all works are delivered in accordance with design drawings, specifications, and project requirements
    - Maintain accurate site records including as-built information, quality documentation, and daily reports
    - Support the site management team with planning and coordination of site activities
    - Liaise with subcontractors and project stakeholders to ensure efficient delivery of works
    - Conduct quality inspections and ensure compliance with project standards
    - Promote and maintain strong health & safety standards across the site
    - Assist in resolving technical issues and provide engineering support throughout the project

    Requirements:

    - Previous experience working as a Site Engineer on civil engineering, infrastructure, or substation projects
    - Proficient in setting out using Leica, Trimble, or equivalent surveying equipment
    - Strong understanding of QA procedures and engineering documentation
    - Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
    - Excellent communication and organisational skills
    - Valid CSCS Card
    - SSSTS or SMSTS preferred
    - Full UK Driving Licence
