How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    HSB Technical Ltd is a specialist recruiterwithin the Power & Propulsion, Shipbuilding, Shipping & Energy and Aerospace sectors. We have a number of permanent and contract vacancies for multiple businesses across the UK and overseas.

    The below job description will outline this position of:Marine Engineer

    Typically, this person will need to be ready to take on a wide range of responsibilities from diagnosing technical issues and upgrading older vessels, to handling breakdown repairs and routine maintenance for marine leisure andcommercial boats, as well as working on the mechanical systems of generators.

    HSB Technical's client is a very established and well-regarded business entity.

    Duties and responsibilities of the Marine Engineer:
    - Inboard & outboard engines
    - Engine controls & electrical systems
    - Gearboxes, stern drives, IPS & stern gear
    - Generators, pumps, fuel tanks & systems
    - Thrusters, hydraulics, lifting & stropping
    - Sea trials and diagnostics
    - Manage your own workload efficiently
    - Completetimesheets and maintain service records (often online)
    - Use electronic parts catalogues to identify and order parts
    - Liaise directly with customers, providing updates and top-level service
    - Respond to enquiries with professionalism and technicalexpertise

    Qualifications and requirement for the Marine Engineer:
    - Marine Engineering Qualification desirable
    - Full UK Driving Licence
    - Strong attention to detail
    - Basic IT Skills.
    - A commitment to high standards and customersatisfaction
    - A "go the extra mile" attitude to keep customers returning.

    Desirable but not necessary:
    - Forklift licence
    - Manual handling
    - VHF
    - Main dealer / manufacturing training.
    - Powerboat level 2
