My client is a well-established and highly respected manufacturing business supplying critical metal products and services to customers across a diverse range of industrial sectors. With a reputation for quality, operational excellence and continuous investment, they are seeking an experienced Operations Manager to play a pivotal role in driving operational performance, process efficiency and future growth across their Sheffield site.
Description
This is a senior leadership role with responsibility for the overall operational performance of the site. Reporting directly into the Group Operations Director, you will lead multiple functions across the operation, ensuring safe, efficient and customer-focused delivery while supporting strategic business objectives and ongoing business growth.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading a team of 80 skilled Operators across several departments including Goods In, Machining, Manufacturing, Testing, Quality, H&S and Despatch
Creating and embedding a range of KPIs to improve operational performance
Implementing visual management tools and KPI tracking systems
Driving operational excellence and continuous improvement activities
Developing capacity planning, scheduling and performance management processes.
Identifying and delivering process improvement and capital investment opportunities.
Leading and developing operational staff to foster a collaborative, high performing working environment
Ensuring operational performance supports commercial objectives, revenue targets and cost control
Producing regular performance reports and providing insight into operational activities and improvementsProfile
I am keen to speak with experienced Operational leaders who can demonstrate:
Proven success in a senior Operations Management role within a medium to heavy engineering environment
Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams from order receipt through to customer delivery
A strong track record of delivering operational KPIs and driving measurable business improvements
Expertise in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or broader Continuous Improvement methodologies
Excellent leadership, people management and coaching skills
Strong planning, organisational and communication abilities
A hands-on approach and can-do attitude
Sound knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental compliance requirements
Experience using ERP/MRP systems to drive operational performance
A strong data driven mindset and a passion for continuous improvement
Experience in the metals, aerospace or oil & gas industries would be advantageous (but is not essential) Job Offer
£80 - £85k base salary.
