How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Oakwrights is seeking a Machine Operator to join our skilled production team, operating industry-leading Hundegger CNC machinery to process oak beams and softwood timbers used in our award-winning oak frame buildings.
    Whether you already have CNC machining experience or are looking to develop new skills in a specialist manufacturing environment, we offer comprehensive training, career progression opportunities and the chance to work with some of the finest timber materials in the industry.
    What You'll Be Doing
    As a Machine Operator, you will:
    * Operate a range of Hundegger CNC machines to process oak and softwood timber.
    * Ensure all components are manufactured accurately and to the highest quality standards.
    * Monitor machine performance and identify any issues.
    * Maintain a safe, clean and organised working environment.
    * Work closely with colleagues to meet production schedules and deadlines.
    * Learn new processes and develop your technical skills through structured training.
    What We're Looking For
    We're more interested in finding the right person than someone who ticks every box. You will ideally have:
    * Good numeracy skills.
    * Strong attention to detail and pride in producing high-quality work.
    * A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
    * The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    * Good organisational and time-management skills.
    * A practical approach to problem-solving.
    It would be great if you had:
    * Previous experience operating CNC machinery, this is desirable but not essential.
    * Experience working with timber or within a manufacturing environment.
    * Practical maintenance or mechanical skills.
