How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Senior Accountant x2

    Midlands | £30,000 – £39,000 | Study Support | Flexible Working

If you’re working in accountancy practice and starting to wonder what your next step looks like, this could be a really good one to explore.

I’m working exclusively with a growing independent accountancy practice in the Midlands that is looking for a Senior Accountant to join the team.

What I like about this opportunity is that they’re not looking for someone to just sit behind the scenes preparing year-end accounts all day.

You’ll have your own client contact, work closely with Managers and Directors and get exposure to some more interesting work as you develop – including management accounts, group accounts, due diligence, valuations and ad-hoc advisory projects.

So, if you feel like you’ve outgrown your current role or you’re ready for more responsibility, there’s plenty of room to do that here.

    What will you be doing?

You’ll work with a varied portfolio of owner-managed businesses and get involved in:

    *

Preparing statutory accounts for limited companies

    *

    Corporation tax returns

    *

    Management accounts

    *

Consolidated accounts for small and medium-sized groups

    *

    Reviewing straightforward VAT returns

    *

Speaking directly with clients and becoming a key point of contact

    *

Supporting and mentoring junior members of the team

    *

Working alongside Managers on more technical and advisory assignments

What level are they looking for?

You don't need to be fully qualified.

If you have at least two years' UK accountancy practice experience and you're confident preparing accounts and corporation tax returns, I’d be interested in speaking with you.

You could be ACA/ACCA part-qualified, nearly qualified or already qualified – the salary will reflect where you are in your experience and studies.

Xero experience would be useful, with IRIS, Sage or QuickBooks experience also welcomed.

    What do you get?

    There’s a good overall package alongside the £30,000 – £39,000 salary, including:

    *

    Fully funded study support

    *

    Flexible working

    *

23 days' holiday + bank holidays

    *

An extra day's holiday for every completed year of service

    *

    Enhanced pension contributions

    *

    Health Plan benefits

    *

    Free parking

    *

    Relaxed dress code

    *

    Ongoing training and development

    *

Genuine opportunities to progress as the firm continues to grow

    Interested, but not actively looking?

    That’s absolutely fine.

Some of the best conversations I have are with people who aren't desperately trying to leave their current firm but would move for the right opportunity.

If you’re working in practice across the Midlands and want to know more about the firm, the team and where this role could take you, drop me a message for a confidential chat
