How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Machine Operator

    Location: Medway, Kent
    Salary: £28,000 to £30,000
    Job Type: Permanent, Full Time

Are you the sort of Machine Operator who wants to understand why a machine is doing something, not just stand there pressing buttons?

We’re supporting a fast-growing manufacturing business in the Medway area that is investing heavily in its production operation, introducing new automated machinery and expanding its team.

They are now looking for experienced Machine Operators who want to take real ownership of their equipment and become part of that growth.

This is a permanent opportunity with a business that is developing quickly, investing in modern manufacturing technology and looking for people who want to build something long term.

    The Role

You’ll be responsible for running automated production machinery safely, efficiently and consistently.

    Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

Setting up and operating automated manufacturing equipment
Preparing machinery for different products and production runs
    Completing product and batch changeovers
    Monitoring machinery throughout production
Adjusting machine settings to maintain quality and output
Identifying and resolving straightforward machinery faults
Carrying out basic operator maintenance and preventative checks
Completing thorough cleaning procedures between production runs
Carrying out quality checks throughout the manufacturing process
Completing accurate production, batch and traceability paperwork
Working closely with Production, Quality and Engineering teams
Helping introduce and establish new equipment and processes within the operation

    What We’re Looking For

This role will suit someone who already has hands-on experience operating machinery within a manufacturing environment.

You do not need to have operated exactly the same equipment before.

What matters is that you are technically minded, comfortable around machinery and confident taking responsibility for your production area.

We would particularly like to speak with people who have experience in:

    Machine operating
    Food or beverage manufacturing
    Pharmaceutical manufacturing
    Nutraceutical production
    FMCG manufacturing
    Packaging or filling machinery
Automated production environmentsIdeally, you will have previously been responsible for some of the following:

    Machine setup
    Product or format changeovers
    Adjusting machine settings
    First-line fault finding
    Basic maintenance
    Cleaning machinery between products
    Quality checks
    Working to production targets
    Batch paperwork and traceability

    The Person

We’re not looking for someone who simply waits for engineering every time something stops.

You’ll naturally want to understand your machine, spot when something is not running correctly and take sensible steps to resolve straightforward issues yourself.

    You’ll also be:

Reliable and looking for a permanent position
Comfortable working in a busy manufacturing environment
    Quality focused
    Safety conscious
    Methodical and organised
    Comfortable following detailed production procedures
    Keen to learn new machinery
Looking for somewhere you can develop and stay long term

    Why Consider It?

The business is going through a significant period of growth and investment.

New machinery is being introduced, production capacity is increasing and the wider operation is continuing to develop.

For the right person, that creates an opportunity to join at an interesting time, learn new equipment from the ground up and become an important part of the production team as the business grows.

    Salary: £28,000 to £30,000

If you have genuine machine operating experience and want a role where you can take more ownership of your equipment, apply today and we’ll be in touch for an initial conversation
