How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Company Overview

An established international manufacturer of engineered components and technical solutions is expanding its UK commercial team. This appointment will support the company’s continued growth by developing new relationships with manufacturers and OEM customers.

The business provides a broad range of standard and bespoke products to customers across several technical and industrial markets – mostly focused on access hardware, door hardware, hinges, locks and latches. It has built a strong reputation for product quality, engineering expertise and the ability to develop tailored solutions for specialist applications.

    Job Overview

The Technical Business Development Manager will lead new-business development across a national territory, targeting manufacturers, OEMs, engineers and technical decision-makers. Success will be measured through qualified enquiries, new customer wins and the development of dormant or lower-spending accounts into long-term commercial partnerships.

    Key Responsibilities

Identify and secure new business with OEMs, component manufacturers and industrial engineering companies.
Build relationships with engineers, designers, procurement teams and commercial decision-makers.
Understand technical applications and recommend suitable catalogue products or bespoke engineered solutions.
Influence product specifications during customer design and development projects.
Interpret technical drawings and confidently discuss engineering requirements.
Generate qualified enquiries and collaborate with internal sales teams on quotations and proposals.
    Person Specification

Proven experience as a Business Development Manager, Technical Sales Manager, Area Sales Manager or Sales Engineer.
Demonstrable success in hunting for and winning new customers.
Experience selling engineered components, industrial products, manufacturing solutions or technical hardware.
Comfortable engaging with engineers, designers, OEMs and manufacturing stakeholders.
Able to understand technical applications and deliver specification-led sales solutions.
Willing to travel regularly throughout the UK and Ireland.
    Full UK driving licence.
    Benefits

£45,000 with potential flexibility depending on experience.
    Uncapped performance-related bonus
    Company car.
    Mobile phone, laptop and iPad.
24 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays.
    Christmas bonus
    Comprehensive technical and product training
    Next Steps

Candidates with technical sales or engineered-component experience are encouraged to apply with an up-to-date CV. For further information, contact John Nesbitt for a confidential discussion.
