How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Service & Small Works Security Engineer

    Location: North West

    Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 Basic

    Job type: Full-time, Permanent

    The Role

An exciting opportunity is available for a Senior Security Engineer to join an established and growing technical team in the North West. This is a predominantly security-focused service role, covering servicing, planned maintenance, fault-finding, repairs and small works rather than large-scale installations.

You will work directly with customers, taking ownership of technical issues and ensuring all works are completed to a high standard. The role would suit an experienced engineer who is confident working independently, managing their own workload and delivering a professional customer experience.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Carry out service, maintenance, fault-finding and repair works across a range of security systems.

    * Complete small works and modifications, ensuring systems are left fully operational and compliant.

    * Attend reactive callouts when required as part of a 1-in-5 standby rota.

    * Complete service documentation, reports and relevant paperwork accurately and promptly.

    * Build strong customer relationships while managing expectations and delivering a high standard of workmanship.

    Experience & Skills

    * Ideally 3+ years' experience working with security systems, with strong technical and fault-finding ability.

    * Solid experience across security systems, servicing, maintenance, repairs and small works.

    * Basic fire alarm experience is required, although extensive fire experience is not necessary.

    * A relevant vocational qualification and/or manufacturer training would be advantageous.

    * Excellent communication skills, a professional appearance and the ability to organise and manage your own workload are essential.

    Working Pattern & Call-Out

    * The standard working week is 40 hours, with availability required between approximately 06:30 and 18:30.

    * Engineers participate in a 1-in-5 standby rota, covering the full week when on standby.

    * Standby allowance is £200 per week, with callouts additionally paid at the applicable overtime rate.

    * Callouts are relatively infrequent, with engineers typically attending no more than once or twice in a week when on standby.

    * Overtime is paid at basic rate Monday–Friday, time-and-a-half Saturday and double time Sunday, with Bank Holidays paid at normal rate plus a day back in lieu.

    Package & Benefits

    * £40,000 basic salary, plus door-to-door travel paid in line with company policy.

    * Company estate vehicle, fuel card and private mileage.

    * Paid overtime, callout allowance and customer-focused incentives.

    * 24 days' holiday, plus company contributory pension scheme.

    * Company workwear, laptop, mobile phone, testing equipment and plant provided.
