How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Director of Quantity Surveying - London

An established independent construction consultancy is seeking an experienced Director of Quantity Surveying to strengthen their London operation and take a leading role within their cost management service. Working across a varied portfolio of development and property projects, this is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded Director of Quantity Surveying to combine project delivery, client management and wider business leadership.

The successful Director of Quantity Surveying will oversee major commissions from initial feasibility and cost planning through procurement, construction and final account. Acting as a senior adviser to clients, the Director of Quantity Surveying will provide strategic commercial guidance while ensuring projects are delivered with strong financial control and a consistently high level of professional service.

Beyond individual commissions, the Director of Quantity Surveying will contribute to the continued development of the London team. This will include strengthening existing client relationships, generating new opportunities and supporting the development of more junior Quantity Surveyors. The position would suit a Director of Quantity Surveying who enjoys operating with autonomy and wants a genuine influence over the growth and direction of an independent consultancy.

Director of Quantity Surveying - Key Responsibilities:

Leading significant cost management commissions through pre- and post-contract stages

Overseeing cost plans, feasibility studies, estimates and procurement strategies

Managing tender processes, valuations, change control and final accounts

Providing strategic commercial and contractual advice to clients

Developing senior relationships with developers, investors and project stakeholders

Identifying new instructions and supporting business development activity

Managing, mentoring and developing members of the Quantity Surveying team

Maintaining commercial performance and quality standards across multiple commissions

Director of Quantity Surveying - Candidate Requirements:

Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline

    MRICS qualified

Extensive UK PQS or construction consultancy experience

Proven experience leading complex projects and senior client relationships

Strong understanding of JCT contracts, procurement and cost management

Demonstrable business development and work-winning capability

Excellent leadership, commercial and communication skills

    In Return:

    £95,000 - £115,000 per annum

    London-based senior leadership position

Varied portfolio of professional construction projects

Significant client and business development responsibility

Opportunity to influence team growth and future strategy

Long-term progression within an established independent consultancy
