Field Service Engineer

We are thrilled to be working with a a well‑established and growing equipment solutions provider based in Northamptonshire. Due to continued expansion, they are looking for experienced Field Service Engineers working with a modern fleet of fully equipped service vehicles and high‑quality machinery.
This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with strong mechanical skills and experience in plant or forklift maintenance who enjoys working independently, solving problems on site, and delivering exceptional customer service.
The Role
As a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for commissioning, maintaining and servicing a wide range of equipment and plant machinery at customer sites. You'll diagnose faults, carry out repairs, and ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
A typical day in this role will include the following
Commission, maintain and service equipment and plant machinery
Repair, maintain and service forklift trucks
Diagnose faults and replace defective parts
Request parts via PDA
Work from scheduled jobs provided by the Service Co‑ordinator
Build and maintain strong customer relationships
Follow Service Team procedures and site Health & Safety requirements
Support Bennie Equipment and The Bennie Group (TBG) business objectives
Pursue ongoing personal development and attend training as required
Adhere to TBG Quality, Compliance and Health & Safety policies
Candidate Requirements
To be considered for this role, candidates are required to have the following skills and attributes.
Essential:
Full UK Driving Licence
NVQ in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
Understanding of mechanical machinery
Strong numeracy skills
Knowledge of forklift trucks
Strong problem‑solving ability
Analytical mindset with excellent attention to detail
Clear and confident communication skills with excellent customer service.
Professional, personable and strong interpersonal skills
Ability to work to tight deadlines
Flexible, supportive and team‑focused
Courteous, friendly and tactful
Desirable: - If you have the following experience, it would be advantageous.
Experience within the materials handling industry or similar
Working knowledge of PDA and Protean
