How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Benefits: Company van and fuel card, uniform/PPE, PDA/mobile equipment, pension, training and certification renewal support

    About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced Domestic Gas & Technical Engineer to join a busy Housing Association team, delivering high-quality gas, heating and hot-water services across occupied homes, void properties and residential environments throughout London and the surrounding areas.
This is a varied field-based role combining responsive repairs, planned servicing, gas safety compliance, fault finding, installation and replacement work, alongside more complex technical diagnosis and support.

    Key Responsibilities:
    · Service, maintain, diagnose and repair domestic boilers, water heaters, heating systems and associated plumbing components.
    · Work on combi, system and heat-only boilers, cylinders, pumps, valves, radiators, controls, expansion vessels and pipework, including vented and unvented hot-water systems within competence.
    · Carry out responsive breakdowns, planned servicing, preventative maintenance, installations, replacements, upgrades, commissioning and recommissioning.
    · Complete CP12/Landlord Gas Safety Records and required gas-safety checks within qualification and registration scope.
    · Take ownership of complex, repeat and intermittent heating and hot-water faults, using structured, evidence-led diagnostics and identifying root causes.
    · Diagnose across the complete heating system, including boilers, controls, wiring, pumps, valves, cylinders, sensors, thermostats, expansion, circulation and system condition.
    · Interpret fault codes, technical literature, wiring diagrams and system schematics, using appropriate diagnostic and test equipment.
    · Diagnose heating controls and electrical components within competence, recognising limitations and escalating specialist electrical work when required.
    · Carry out gas-safety, combustion, pressure, flue, ventilation and soundness checks, identify unsafe conditions and apply relevant safety procedures.
    · Stop work and escalate immediately where there is serious gas, carbon monoxide, flue, ventilation, electrical or competency-related safety risks.
    · Complete technical inspections, root-cause reviews, quality investigations and technical audits, identifying recurring faults, trends and training needs.
    · Maintain accurate, factual and audit-ready records, including readings, photographs, fault codes, tests, diagnosis, parts used, work completed and follow-on recommendations.
    · Provide clear technical scopes, quotations, handovers and evidence for further works, approvals, warranty claims and escalations.
    · Communicate professionally with residents, treating people, homes and belongings with respect while maintaining high standards of housekeeping.
    · Demonstrate safeguarding awareness and report welfare, safeguarding or unsafe-living-condition concerns through appropriate channels.
    · Participate in out-of-hours callouts and respond effectively to heating, hot-water and gas-safety emergencies.
    · Prioritise safety, vulnerable residents, risk containment and service restoration, making systems safe and completing repairs where reasonably achievable and authorised.
    · Provide clear technical handovers where repairs cannot be completed, including temporary measures, parts, risks and required follow-on works.

    Essential Requirements:
    · Current Gas Safe registration through the employing business and in-date domestic ACS qualifications appropriate to the work undertaken, including CCN1 and CENWAT, with HTR1, CKR1 and MET1 as applicable.
    · Proven experience servicing, maintaining, fault-finding and repairing domestic boilers and heating systems.
    · Strong practical experience with combi, system and heat-only boilers.
    · Good knowledge of heating controls, S-plan/Y-plan systems, pumps, motorised valves, cylinders, expansion, circulation and system pressure.
    · Strong understanding of domestic gas safety, combustion, flues, ventilation, gas pressures and soundness testing.
    · Ability to interpret manufacturer instructions, technical literature and wiring diagrams.
    · Competence in systematic fault finding and root-cause diagnosis.
    · G3 Unvented Hot Water qualification, or willingness and ability to obtain this within an agreed period.
    · Full UK driving licence.
    · Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    · Comfortable using mobile job-management systems such as BigChange or equivalent.
    · High standards of health and safety, workmanship, timekeeping and professional conduct.
    · Experience working in occupied housing, social housing, housing association or local-authority environments is highly desirable.
