How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Fire Engineer

    Location: Sidcup area, Greater London area

    The Opportunity

    We are looking for a meticulous Fire Engineer to join our dedicated product compliance team. This role is perfect for someone who thrives on precision and wants to take hands-on ownership of the planning, execution, and documentation of fire testing across our market-leading product ranges. You will spend your days balancing complex international standards with practical product design goals.

    In Fire Engineer role, you will be the vital link between our internal design teams and external UKAS-accredited laboratories. Working at the forefront of passive fire protection as a Certification and Testing Engineer, you will ensure our lifesaving products maintain total compliance with UK, European, and international regulations while helping to support exciting new product development.

    What You Will Do Day-to-Day

    Own the testing pipeline: Assist with the planning, coordination, and preparation of rigorous fire resistance and smoke control testing programmes.
    Prepare samples & details: Support the build preparation, specifications, and physical product sampling for external test house audits.
    Manage external relationships: Liaise directly with certification bodies and test houses, such as third-party UKAS laboratories.
    Drive technical documentation: Prepare and maintain critical technical data sheets, declarations, fire test reports, assessments, and certification documents.
    Collaborate on design: Work closely with CAD, Product, and Design teams to ensure all manufactured configurations perfectly reflect tested constructions.
    Monitor compliance standards: Keep a close eye on regulatory updates, supporting compliance activities for standards including BS 476, EN 1634, and UL.

    About You

    You are a process-driven professional with a high attention to detail and a methodical approach to compliance. To succeed as our new Fire Engineersting Engineer, you must thrive in an environment where accuracy is paramount, bring excellent technical understanding, and have the following to your name:

    Industry experience: A strong understanding of fire testing and compliance processes within the construction, doorset, joinery, or passive fire protection sectors.
    Technical standards know-how: Familiarity with relevant regulatory frameworks, specifically BS 476-22/31.1, EN 1634-1, UL 10C, and UL 1784.
    CAD capability: Practical experience producing and amending 2D and 3D technical CAD drawings to support testing and certification details.
    Organisational foundation: Strong written communication skills to produce clear, structured technical documentation, alongside the ability to manage multiple strict deadlines.
    Desirable extras: Previous experience with Factory Production Control (FPC) audit processes, joinery product development, or change control activities is a major plus.
