How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    The company designs and builds bespoke industrial equipment and automated systems for customers across a range of technically demanding sectors. Due to continued growth and a strong order book, they are looking to strengthen their electrical and controls engineering team.

    This is an opportunity to work on complex, high-value machinery within a technically challenging environment, while joining an established business with a strong employee retention record and a genuinely supportive working culture.

    The Role

    As a Senior Electrical / Controls Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for electrical and controls engineering across the full machine lifecycle, from initial concept and design through to commissioning.

    Working closely with mechanical design and development teams, you will play a key role in delivering robust, compliant and high-performing machine control systems.

    Key Responsibilities:

    * Design electrical control systems, including schematics, panel layouts and BOMs

    * Develop and modify PLC programmes, ideally using Siemens and/or Allen Bradley

    * Design and integrate motion control and servo systems

    * Develop HMI and PC-based control systems

    * Design machinery safety systems in line with relevant standards

    * Integrate electrical and mechanical systems

    * Support FAT activities and machine commissioning

    * Provide technical support to service teams and customers where required

    * Work closely with senior engineering leadership on project delivery

    * Identify opportunities to improve existing electrical and controls systems

    * Take ownership of projects and contribute to the ongoing modernisation of control systems

    About You

    You will be an experienced Electrical, Controls or Systems Engineer with a strong background in industrial automation, special purpose machinery or capital equipment.

    Essential Experience:

    * Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent experience in Electrical, Electronic or Control Engineering

    * 6+ years' experience within industrial automation, machinery or a similar engineering environment

    * Strong electrical design and schematic experience

    * Experience using EPLAN or similar electrical design software

    * PLC programming experience, ideally Siemens or Allen Bradley

    * Experience working with bespoke machinery or capital equipment

    * Good understanding of machinery safety and relevant standards

    * Comfortable working autonomously and taking ownership of projects

    Benefits:

    * £50,000 – £60,000 salary

    * 35 days annual leave including bank holidays

    * 6% employer pension contribution with 3% employee contribution

    * Discretionary bonus scheme

    * 3x salary death-in-service

    * Healthcare scheme

    * Regular social and wellbeing events

    * Strong employee retention and supportive working environment

    * Excellent opportunity for progression within a relatively flat engineering structure

    * Opportunity to have genuine input into the modernisation and development of control systems
