How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Electronics Technician

    Location: Burton upon Trent, DE13

    Pay Rate: £18.00 per hour

    Employment Type: Full-time

    Overview

    We are seeking a hands-on Electronics Technician to join our team based in Burton upon Trent. This role is ideal for someone with strong electronic fault-finding and diagnostic skills who enjoys working on small electronic products and assemblies.

    The successful candidate will be responsible for testing, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a range of electronic equipment to component level, ensuring products meet quality and performance standards.

    Key Responsibilities

    Diagnose and repair electronic faults to component level.
    Test, inspect, and rework printed circuit boards (PCBs).
    Read and interpret circuit diagrams and technical documentation.
    Carry out fault-finding, repair, and maintenance of electronic products and assemblies.
    Use a variety of electronic test equipment to support diagnostics and repairs.
    Record work completed and update relevant systems and documentation.
    Work effectively within quality and production processes.
    Skills and Experience

    Essential

    Strong electronic fault-finding and diagnostic experience.
    Experience repairing and testing electronic assemblies and products.
    Ability to read and understand circuit diagrams and schematics.
    Experience using electronic test equipment.
    Good attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
    Basic IT skills.
    Desirable

    Experience with any of the following:

    PCB testing, repair, and rework.
    CCTV cameras and recording equipment.
    Door control units and access control systems.
    OTMR (On-Train Monitoring Recorder) / black box systems.
    HVAC controllers.
    Mobile phone or small electronics repair.
    MRP (Material Requirements Planning) systems.
    Test Equipment Experience

    Candidates should ideally have experience using:

    Digital multimeters
    Bench power supplies
    Signal generators
    Oscilloscopes
    Other electronic diagnostic and test equipment
    Candidate Profile

    We are looking for a practical, hands-on Electronics Technician with a passion for fault-finding and repair. This position is best suited to candidates with experience in electronic diagnostics and repair rather than those from heavily industrial or highly specialised engineering backgrounds. Candidates who are significantly overqualified for a workshop-based repair role may not be suitable.
