How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Application Support Specialist - C# / SQL - Tier 1 Bank - 6 months - Hybrid

    Role - Application Support Specialist

    Rate - £416 per day

    Duration - 6 months with very likely extension

    Location - Hybrid / Canary Wharf - 3 days per week in a Canary Wharf office

    Application support responsibilities for development teams in production environments to cover all aspects such as communication with Data Centre/Help Desk staff, analysing/finding failure to reach a root cause, resolving issues by liaising with development teams, liaising with internal and external supports teams and providing explanations to our Business Clients.Tasks

    Troubleshooting Applications in the event of failure and implementing solutions (Code fix, SQL scripting etc), including checking Windows Servers, Databases (SQL Server or Oracle) and any other relevant environments where the Application is running. In some cases, this will involve liaising with other application support team staff across London and New York.
    Liaising with the relevant support teams (such as Technical Support, Network, Infrastructure, DBA) when users experience Application issues.
    Communicating with primary support Helpdesk staff in London and New York to give the team necessary advice and suggestions.
    Working with the team members and the wider development team to establish best practices to support Applications.
    Working with the wider Development team and other support teams to analyse and establish appropriate Application configuration to meet Business requirements.
    Contributing and regularly joining technical and design workshops within the team to suggest ideas to achieve stable Application operations.
    Critically and actively contributing to define Application support standards to ensure their applications are fully capable of running safely in production.
    Participating in exercises to both plan and estimate work volumes for Application supports.
    Working with the application release team in the rollout of applications in production that minimize Application failures after release.
    Adding consideration of performance, scalability and security matters across design and implementation phases.
    Follow established incident and problem management processes, ensuring accurate ticket updates and clear communication with stakeholders and with any relevant people.
    Participating in definitions and configuration of Application environments in Disaster Recovery sites.
    Supporting the continuous improvement and updating Application support methodology for all members in support team, as well as the wider Application support departments.
    Out of office hours support required as part of production support team
