How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Import Coordinator - Aberdeen - Up to £45,000

    We are currently recruiting for an experienced Import Coordinator to join a busy freight forwarding operation in Aberdeen.

    This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced import professional with a strong background in international freight forwarding, customs and import processes. The successful candidate will manage shipments across multiple transport modes, coordinate with clients, overseas agents, carriers and transport providers, and ensure all customs and import documentation is processed accurately and compliantly.

    The Role

    As an Import Coordinator, you will be responsible for the end-to-end coordination and processing of international import shipments, providing logistics solutions and commercial support to clients.

    You will handle a variety of import movements and shipping documentation, ensuring shipments are processed efficiently and in line with customer requirements, company procedures and HMRC regulations.

    Key Responsibilities

    Coordinate import shipments across Road, Air and Sea freight.
    Book shipments with overseas agents, carriers, shipping lines and road transport companies.
    Process client import requests, including EXW collections, import declarations and delivery arrangements.
    Process customs declarations through ASM Sequoia in accordance with client instructions and HMRC requirements.
    Maintain a strong understanding of HMRC customs regulations, regimes and entry types.
    Ensure all shipment and customer data is entered accurately into internal systems.
    Manage shipping and customs documentation to ensure timely and compliant clearance.
    Provide logistics solutions, guidance and commercial support to clients.
    Identify customs-specific regulations and requirements relating to imports from relevant countries.
    Coordinate with clients, vendors, overseas agents and transport providers to resolve day-to-day operational issues.
    Escalate complex issues to the Import Manager where required.
    Ensure jobs are invoiced accurately and within agreed KPIs.
    Maintain accurate shipment records and ensure all operational milestones are completed on time.
    Attend and contribute to weekly team meetings, discussing workload, operational issues and relevant updates.
    Work in accordance with company compliance programmes, standard operating procedures and customer requirements.
    Ensure a consistently high standard of accuracy and efficiency across all import activities.You will also be expected to have comprehensive knowledge of ASM Sequoia and CHIEF, alongside a strong understanding of customs compliance.

    The Ideal Candidate

    Minimum 3 years' experience in international imports and freight forwarding.
    Strong knowledge of international import processes.
    Comprehensive understanding of HMRC customs regulations.
    Experience using ASM Sequoia and CHIEF.
    Excellent customer service skills.
    Excellent Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel.
    Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    Strong organisational and time-management skills.
    Ability to prioritise effectively within a fluctuating workload.
    High levels of accuracy when checking and processing information.
    Strong relationship-building skills with clients, colleagues, vendors and overseas partners.
    Ability to work independently and use initiative.
    Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
    Positive, proactive attitude with a commitment to continuous improvement and change.
    Experience working within a busy, multi-modal UK based freight forwarding environment.
    Previous experience handling complex customs requirements.

    The Opportunity
