How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Job Description :

My client is seeking an experienced individual with a highway design background for either their team in London or Leeds. This opportunity offers the right candidate the opportunity to grow their career and to have a positive impact on the development and delivery of major development sites, urban streets and public spaces.

The team undertakes a portfolio of high-profile schemes that are focused on urban streets within a particular area or corridor. You will work closely with other teams and will develop and deliver solutions that enable healthier and more efficient movement whilst also recognising the role of streets as places. This work is typically undertaken for public and private sector clients such as Local and Regional authorities, as well as for high profile.
    Recent projects include:
·Delivery of numerous schemes for Brent Council including projects in Wembley, Northwick Park, and ongoing development of a major scheme in Neasden
·Highway infrastructure design for new developments such as Brent Cross Town, Canary Wharf and Crown Estate
·Design support for major developments in West Sussex, Oxfordshire, Nottingham
·They also provide support to the Sports and Major Development team for clients such as The Open, The FA, Nottingham Forest and major tournaments

These projects require an appreciation of highways and traffic engineering, including alignment design, sustainable drainage, pavement design, utility issues and road safety, as well as an appreciation of the design and construction of public spaces, appropriate to the level of the post you are applying for.

They would not be expecting any candidate to have detailed experience in all these fields, but you will have sufficient understanding to be able to collaborate with others in the team to reach successful project outcomes. As such, it is likely that your background includes a balance of technical experience and a strong grasp of the societal, economic and political contexts that transport exists in, together with a successful track record of managing tasks or projects.

They will help you develop your project management skills. You will work closely with market-leading Associates and Directors across their offices, who will actively support you in project delivery and in your wider career development.

    Requirements

    In this role you will:

·Undertake highway and public space design, drawing on your technical skills and understanding of highways and traffic engineering.
·Use software packages such as AutoCAD and Civils 3D as well as standard office software to prepare and deliver drawings, documents and reports that are appropriately tailored to varying audiences
·Develop your project management skills of increasing scale and complexity as you move through your career.
·Work within multi-disciplinary teams that comprise both internal colleagues and external subconsultants
·Provide clients with the best advice by integrating work developed by team members (including technical inputs such as traffic modelling outputs or design drawings) into high-quality project deliverables that contribute to the company's reputation for delivering excellence
·Effectively liaise with clients and other external stakeholders
·Take responsibility for multiple projects simultaneously, successfully managing competing deadlines
·Hold or working towards professional and academic qualifications in engineering or an aligned field
·Effectively deploy an appropriate mix of analytical tools and techniques for each project, drawing on your understanding of their strengths and weaknesses, and available transport data sources
·Apply your excellent written and verbal communication skills, including your ability to appropriately tailor a message to non-technical audiences (such as the public and politicians)
·Have a solid ability to use Microsoft Office (in particular Word, Excel and PowerPoint)

For the more senior post you will also:

·Manage project budgets, exercising effective financial and budgetary control
·Manage the preparation of competitive proposals for transport planning studies

They encourage and support their staff to achieve professional qualifications through appropriate Professional Institutions such as the Institution of Civil Engineers or the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation
