How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Title: Logistics Controller
    Location: Dorking
    Salary: £35,000 - £38,000 per annum, depending on experience
    Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday Days

    Are you an experienced Logistics Controller, Production Controller or Materials Planner looking for your next opportunity within a busy manufacturing environment?
    We are currently recruiting for a Logistics Controller to join an established manufacturing business based in Dorking. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience in logistics, production planning and inventory control to play a key role in supporting the smooth running of manufacturing operations.

    The Role of Logistics Controller:

    As a Logistics Controller, you will work closely with departments including Sales, Engineering, Purchasing, Inventory and Manufacturing to ensure materials, production orders and inventory are effectively managed.
    You will be responsible for supporting production schedules, managing engineering changes, maintaining accurate system data and ensuring stock and production processes run efficiently.

    Key Responsibilities for the Logistics Controller:
    Managing logistics and production control activities across the manufacturing operation.
    Coordinating engineering changes and updating information within the ERP system.
    Managing and maintaining Bills of Materials (BOMs).
    Coordinating prototype activity and ensuring projects are completed to a high standard.
    Maintaining accurate master data, production orders and inventory records.
    Supporting production planning and ensuring output meets the company production schedule.
    Working closely with Inventory Control to maintain high levels of stock accuracy.
    Managing production orders, backflushing and component picking processes.
    Ensuring production orders are closed accurately and finished units are processed correctly.
    Liaising with internal departments regarding material availability and lead times.
    Supporting capacity planning, production scheduling and continuous improvement meetings.
    Identifying opportunities to improve processes and reduce waste.
    Working closely with Production Supervision to achieve daily targets.The Ideal Candidate for the Logistics Controller:

    The successful candidate will ideally have experience within a manufacturing, production, logistics or inventory environment.
    You will have:
    Previous experience within Logistics, Production Control, Materials Planning or Inventory Control.
    Experience working with ERP/MRP systems.
    A good understanding of production orders, stock control and inventory processes.
    Experience using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
    Strong organisational and planning skills.
    Excellent communication skills and the ability to work across multiple departments.
    A proactive and solutions-focused approach.
    The ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.Desirable Experience
    Experience with any of the following would be advantageous:
    SAP, BAAN, BPCS, JD Edwards or Microsoft Dynamics.
    Bills of Materials (BOMs).
    Engineering Change Notices (ECNs).
    Production planning and scheduling.
    Kanban systems.
    Continuous improvement and waste reduction.
    Manufacturing or engineering environments.Salary & Benefits:

    The successful Logistics Controller will receive:
    £35,000 - £38,000 per annum, depending on the skills and experience brought to the role.
    37.5 hours per week.
    Profit Related Bonus Scheme, based on 5% of basic salary.
    25 days annual leave plus Bank Holidays.
