How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Position: Electrical Design Engineer - Solar PV

    Location: Leigh, Greater Manchester

    Salary: £55,000 (negotiable depending on experience)

    We currently have an opportunity available to join a well-established commercial solar contractor with a background of over 15 year's experience delivering solar PV installation projects across the UK.

    Electrical Design Engineer Job Overview

    Leading the electrical design of commercial solar PV systems, with a focus towards 250kW+ rooftop installations within locations including commercial buildings such as nurseries, hotels, pubs, manufacturing, warehouses and business parks
    Taking initial information from the sales/surveying team and completing accurate electrical technical drawings
    Designing and submitting technical drawings for cable routes, electrical distribution and connections
    Providing technical assistance to installers during more complex projects, with occasional site visits and client contact included

    Electrical Design Engineer Job Requirements

    Experience in completing electrical designs and drawings for commercial solar PV installations anywhere from 250kW and above is essential
    Strong technical understanding of solar PV projects including the electrical distribution, cable routing, electrical safety and parallel generation
    Any experience physically installing solar PV systems is not essential, but would be desirable
    Electrical qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installations and 18th Edition are not essential, but would be desirable
    Based within a commutable distance of Leigh, Greater Manchester, with hybrid working options available

    Electrical Design Engineer Salary & Benefits

    Basic salary £55,000, negotiable depending on experience
