How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Humanities Teacher
    Oldham
    £170–£235 per day | September start | Long-term
    Smile Education are recruiting for a Humanities Teacher to work within a secondary school in Oldham.
    This role is ideal for a qualified Humanities Teacher who is confident delivering Geography, History or RE across KS3 and KS4.
    The Role
    As a Humanities Teacher, you will deliver engaging lessons across the Humanities curriculum.
    You will support pupils across KS3 and KS4, maintain strong classroom routines and help students develop subject knowledge, confidence and progress across Humanities.
    The school may require teaching across Geography, History or RE, depending on timetable needs.
    Key Responsibilities

    Deliver Humanities lessons across KS3 and KS4.
    Teach Geography, History or RE where required.
    Plan and deliver structured, engaging lessons.
    Prepare pupils for GCSE where needed.
    Maintain strong classroom and behaviour management.
    Support pupils of varying abilities, including SEND.
    Assess pupil progress and provide feedback where required.
    Build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
    Follow safeguarding procedures and uphold school expectations.Requirements

    QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification is essential.
    Experience teaching Humanities within a UK secondary school is required.
    Strong subject knowledge across KS3 and KS4 is essential.
    Experience teaching Geography, History or RE is desirable.
    ECTs and experienced teachers are welcome to apply.
    You must be reliable, professional and confident managing behaviour.
    You must hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to obtain one.

    £170–£235 per day, dependent on experience and role responsibilities.
