How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Senior Civil & Structural Engineer

    Location: Remote - occasional site/office visits on an ad-hoc basis
    Rate: Up to £55 per hour (Outside IR35)
    Contract: 6 months initially, with a view to extend
    Start: ASAP
    We are recruiting a Senior Civil & Structural Engineer to join a multi-disciplinary engineering team supporting the delivery of major projects within a highly regulated environment.
    This is a predominantly remote-working position, with occasional travel required for site visits, design reviews and client meetings.

    The Role

    As a Senior C&S Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering civil and structural engineering solutions, including analysis, calculations, reports and technical specifications.
    You will also work closely with BIM teams to ensure designs are communicated effectively and collaborate with other engineering disciplines and construction teams throughout project delivery.
    The role will also involve supporting and mentoring more junior engineers and providing technical input directly to clients.

    Key Responsibilities

    Deliver civil and structural analysis, calculations, reports and specifications.
    Communicate engineering designs effectively to BIM teams.
    Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary engineering and construction teams.
    Attend occasional site visits, design reviews and client meetings.
    Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers.
    Communicate confidently and authoritatively with clients and stakeholders.
    Ensure engineering solutions meet relevant technical and project requirements.

    Requirements

    5-10+ years' relevant civil/structural engineering experience.
    Experience within nuclear, oil & gas, process or similarly highly regulated industries.
    Minimum BEng in Civil or Structural Engineering.
    Chartered status with ICE or IStructE preferred.
    CSCS preferred.
    Strong technical experience in civil and structural engineering design and analysis.
    Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
    Confident dealing directly with clients and providing technical guidance to others.
