How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Applying innovative engineering solutions for energy and chemical process production
    Cambridge - South; £DoE + Benefits Package
    Based at their offices in south Cambridgeshire, this engineering company provides highly specialised expertise for their customers across Europe and further afield. Their expertise is in designing bespoke industrial systems used for efficient and optimised processing for energy and chemicals, especially around more sustainable manufacturing and decarbonisation. They tackle hard engineering problems through modern adaptation of technology and scientific knowledge to develop innovative solutions.
    The team are hiring, and looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join them. The role requires hands-on practical skills with a deep understanding of scientific and engineering fundamentals, coupled with a commercially-savvy approach to convince potential clients and deliver world-class systems. The company has superb facilities to allow you to experiment and develop pilot tests, and through successive projects, you will be allow you to build up your project leadership acumen.
    Requirements:
    * You’ll have a strong academic background in mechanical engineering or similar, but moreover, can demonstrate strong experience of electromechanical system design and integration for energy or chemical process systems.
    * Your technical expertise should include: calculating stress analyses and thermals, expertise with CAD, mechanical component specification and procurement, system-level risk management, systems modelling using MATLAB / Python, and a broad understanding of manufacturing processes.
    * Additional experience with regulatory frameworks associated with pilot plants / hazardous environments would be desirable.
    For highly experienced candidates that meet the full requirements, company sponsorship for a work visa may be available.
