How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Position: Senior Electrical Design EngineerLocation: Ipswich,

    šŸ”§ About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join a dynamic and collaborative design team working across a diverse portfolio of public and private sector projects. This role offers the opportunity to lead electrical design delivery from concept through to completion, contributing to high-quality, sustainable, and technically robust building solutions.
    šŸ› ļø Key Responsibilities

    Lead the design and specification of electrical building services systems including lighting, power, fire alarms, data, and security systems
    Manage projects through RIBA Stages 1-6, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards
    Coordinate with internal disciplines (mechanical, architectural, structural) and external stakeholders (clients, contractors, consultants)
    Mentor and support junior engineers and technicians within the team
    Attend client meetings, design reviews, and site inspections as required
    Contribute to fee proposals, resource planning, and project programming
    Ensure designs are delivered on time, within budget, and to a high technical standard
    Support the development of sustainable and low-carbon design strategies
    šŸŽ“ Qualifications & Experience

    Degree in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent)
    Chartered or working toward CEng status with a relevant institution (e.g., IET, CIBSE)
    Minimum 5 years' experience in electrical building services design
    Strong knowledge of UK building regulations, BS standards, and design codes
    Proficient in designing software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Amtech, and Dialux/Relux
    Experience working on education, healthcare, residential, or public sector projects is advantageous.
