How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Maintenance Operative – Woodbridge Area Schools

Step into a Maintenance Operative role that offers genuine variety, real autonomy, and the chance to make a tangible difference across a growing family of schools every single day.

My client is expanding across the Trust, meaning this Maintenance Operative opportunity comes with the backing of a stable, forward-moving organisation and real scope to grow alongside it.

As Maintenance Operative, you'll support several schools in the Woodbridge area, giving you the opportunity to use a broad mix of practical skills, from light plumbing and basic carpentry to painting and fault finding. No two days will look the same, and you'll have the chance to build strong relationships with staff and students as a visible, trusted face around each site, making this Maintenance Operative position ideal for someone who enjoys variety and takes pride in keeping a school environment safe, functional and welcoming.

This role would suit someone with a practical, hands-on approach and a genuine willingness to turn their hand to a variety of maintenance tasks. Strong communication skills are important, given the student and staff-facing nature of the role, and candidates should hold a full UK driving licence to travel between sites. An Enhanced DBS is required, though my client is happy to support successful candidates through this process.

Alongside a salary of £30,000 - £33,700 (dependent on experience), this Maintenance Operative role comes with a great range of benefits, including:

    A strong pension scheme
    Access to wellbeing services
    Continued professional development opportunities
A year-round contract offering continuety of work
My client is a Trust with genuine momentum, investing in its people as it grows across the Woodbridge area, and offering a supportive, close-knit environment where a Maintenance Operative can really thrive and develop long-term.

If you're ready to bring your practical skills to a Maintenance Operative role with real variety and backing from a growing Trust, get in touch with Select Recruitment today
