How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Company Description Childerstone Project Management is a boutique consultancy founded in 2022, dedicated to delivering projects that align closely with each client’s strategic vision. The firm focuses on understanding client drivers and objectives in depth, ensuring that every project decision adds measurable value. With a strong emphasis on meticulous project delivery, Childerstone combines strategic insight with practical execution. The consultancy offers a personalized, high-attention service environment that appeals to professionals who enjoy close client collaboration and high standards of quality.

Role Description The CDM Principal Designer will lead the coordination and management of design risk under relevant construction and design management regulations, ensuring health and safety is embedded throughout the project lifecycle. Day-to-day responsibilities include reviewing and advising on design proposals, preparing and maintaining project risk registers, and collaborating with clients, designers, and contractors to ensure a safe and compliant design process. The role also involves producing clear documentation, attending design and coordination meetings, and providing guidance on best practices and regulatory requirements. This is a full-time hybrid position based in Birmingham, with a mix of on-site client and project meetings and some work-from-home flexibility.

    Qualifications

    • Demonstrated expertise in CDM regulations, design risk management, and health and safety compliance within construction or related sectors.
    • Strong experience in multidisciplinary coordination, working with clients, designers, and contractors to integrate safety considerations into design decisions.
    • Ability to analyze technical design information, prepare risk registers, and produce clear, structured documentation and reports.
    • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills, with the ability to challenge and guide project teams constructively.
    • Relevant professional qualification in construction, engineering, architecture, or project management (e.g., degree-level or equivalent experience).
    • Professional accreditation or training in health and safety or CDM (e.g., NEBOSH, APS membership, or equivalent) is highly beneficial.
    • Proficiency in common project and design tools (e.g., MS Office, collaboration platforms; familiarity with BIM or CAD environments is an advantage).
    • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and maintain high attention to detail within a fast-paced consultancy environment.
