Experis are working with a client in the Education Sector based in Watford who are looking to recruit an experienced Network & Systems Engineer into their established IT team.
This is a broad, hands-on Network Engineer role supporting a "Cisco Platform" within a "Microsoft Landscape", with a particular emphasis on strong Cisco networking experience.
This is a "Network Engineer Role" first and foremost! MS Infrastructure Engineer second!
The successful candidate will support a business-critical infrastructure environment and work across a mixture of on-premise and cloud technologies.
Key responsibilities:
Support and maintain Cisco network infrastructure
Provide 3rd line support across server and network environments
LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi technologies, IP telephony systems, firewalls, and systems architecture.
Hyper-V, Microsoft 365 / Azure, backup Technologies, Active Directory,
Support Windows Server and Active Directory technologies
Support Azure and Microsoft 365 environments
Manage and troubleshoot firewalls and wider network security technologies
Support backup, recovery and core infrastructure services
Investigate incidents and complete root-cause analysis
Assist with infrastructure upgrades, projects and continuous improvement activity
Work closely with wider IT teams and third-party suppliers where requiredWhat we're looking for:
Around 5+ years' recent Network / Infrastructure Engineering experience
Strong hands-on Cisco networking knowledge, ideally at approximately CCNP level
Strong Windows Server and Active Directory experience
Good firewall knowledge
Experience working with Azure
Broad enterprise infrastructure experience
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Comfortable remaining technically hands-on
Full Drivers LicenseA current CCNP qualification would be beneficial, although recent practical Cisco experience is more important than certification alone.
