How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

The people we support may experience cognitive, physical, behavioural and emotional difficulties, including impaired social functioning, disinhibition and behaviours that may challenge.
You will work alongside an experienced multidisciplinary team in a specialist environment where rehabilitation, recovery, independence and quality of life are at the centre of care.
    The role
As Ward Manager, you will take responsibility for the clinical and operational leadership of the ward, combining hands-on nursing leadership, people management, quality and governance.
    Your responsibilities will include:
    *
Providing day-to-day clinical and operational leadership and maintaining safe, effective and high-quality care.
    *
Leading, motivating and developing the nursing and care team, creating a positive and accountable clinical culture.
    *
Overseeing care for people with complex neurological, behavioural and rehabilitation needs.
    *
Working closely with Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists and the wider MDT to coordinate effective care and rehabilitation.
    *
Maintaining strong standards across clinical governance, safeguarding, risk management, quality and patient safety.
    *
Managing staffing, rotas, recruitment, supervision, mentorship and professional development while building strong relationships with families and external professionals.
    About you
We are looking for a credible clinical leader who can combine excellent nursing practice with strong people leadership.
    You will ideally have:
    *
Current NMC registration as a Registered Nurse (RGN or RNLD).
    *
Experience as a Ward Manager, Deputy Ward Manager, Clinical Lead, Charge Nurse, Senior Sister, Senior Nurse or at an equivalent Band 6/7 level.
    *
Strong experience within acquired brain injury, neurorehabilitation, neurological care or complex clinical care.
    *
Experience leading, supervising and developing nursing or multidisciplinary care teams.
    *
Good knowledge of clinical governance, safeguarding, risk management and safe clinical practice.
    *
The confidence to lead through challenge and work collaboratively with service users, families, the MDT and external stakeholders.
Previous neurorehabilitation or acquired brain injury experience is highly advantageous. We also welcome experienced clinical leaders from complex care, rehabilitation, learning disability or other specialist healthcare settings who can demonstrate relevant transferable experience.
    Why join Brainkind?
£54,327 per annum and a 35-hour working week.
38 days' annual leave inclusive of bank holidays (pro rata), with the option to buy or sell up to 5 days.
Health Cash Plan and Employee Assistance Programme.
Company pension and group life assurance.
Excellent training, professional development and career progression.
Free parking, eye voucher scheme and Long Service and Staff Awards.
Ready to lead specialist neurological care?
If you are passionate about neurorehabilitation and want to lead a team, influence clinical standards and improve outcomes for people living with complex neurological conditions, we would love to hear from you.
Apply now to join Brainkind's Neurological Centre in York.
We shortlist and interview on a rolling basis and may close the vacancy once a suitable candidate has been identified, so early applications are encouraged.
