How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    EXPERIENCED GENERAL OPERATIONS MANAGER REQUIRED WITH A BACKGROUND IN WASTE PROCESSING OPERATIONS WITH A FOCUS ON OPERATIONS AND COMMERCIAL

    Salary £70k- £100k depending on experience
    Location - South West you may be located in Bath, Chippenham, Bristol and surrounding areas

    We’re looking for an experienced and commercially driven General Manager to take overall accountability for Waste operations across the South West and South Wales.

    This is a senior leadership role for someone who can combine ensuring delivery of safe, compliant, efficient and customer-focused service while building the foundations for sustainable growth. You’ll have full responsibility for the performance of the Trade Waste function, including operations, customer service, commercial performance and compliance, with accountability for the P&L and a key role in shaping the future direction of the division.

    The opportunity
    As General Manager, you’ll lead an operation with significant opportunity to improve, grow and scale.

    You’ll be responsible for:

    • Leading the day-to-day Waste and Recycling operation, ensuring collections are delivered safely, efficiently, on time and to a consistently high standard.
    • Building the right operational structure, resources and processes to support continued growth.
    • Driving route optimisation, fleet utilisation and operational efficiency.
    • Taking ownership of operational challenges and ensuring issues are resolved quickly and effectively.
    • Holding full accountability for the P&L, driving cost efficiency, margin improvement and sustainable profitability.
    • Working closely with Sales to develop profitable growth opportunities, pricing strategies and new customer propositions.
    • Supporting tenders, contract mobilisations and expansion into new geographic markets.
    • Ideally you will be a CPC holder, ensuring robust compliance with transport legislation and company standards.
    • Ensuring full compliance with waste legislation, Duty of Care, environmental requirements and health & safety standards.
    • Leading and developing teams across operations, sales and customer service.
    • Building a high-performance culture based on accountability, service excellence and continuous improvement.
    • Developing strong relationships with key customers and stakeholders, protecting retention and enhancing customer satisfaction.
    • Using market, customer and competitor insight to identify opportunities and shape future strategy.

    Ideally you will have a CPC, WAMITAB COTC level 4 and IOSH managing safely
