How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Document Controller
    Location: Waterloo, London
    Sector: Construction / Main Contracting

    The Opportunity
    Hill McGlynn are currently working with an established construction contractor who are looking to appoint an experienced Document Controller to join their team, based from their Waterloo head office.
    This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Document Controller to join a busy construction environment, supporting project, design, commercial and operational teams while taking responsibility for the accurate management and distribution of project information.
     
    Previous experience using Trimble Viewpoint is essential for this position.
     
    The Role
    As Document Controller, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining project documentation, drawings and technical information, ensuring the correct information is available to project teams throughout the construction lifecycle.
     
    Key responsibilities will include:

    Managing project documentation through Trimble Viewpoint.
    Uploading, issuing, distributing and maintaining drawings, specifications and technical documents.
    Maintaining accurate document registers and revision records.
    Ensuring project teams are working from the latest approved information.
    Managing incoming and outgoing project correspondence and documentation.
    Distributing information to internal teams, consultants, subcontractors and other project stakeholders.
    Monitoring document workflows, approvals and outstanding information.
    Maintaining clear and accurate document audit trails.
    Supporting design and project teams with document-control requirements.
    Ensuring company document-control procedures and standards are consistently followed.
    Assisting with the collation of handover documentation, O&M manuals and project records.
    Archiving project information accurately at the appropriate stages.
    Providing general project administration and information-management support where required. About You
    We are looking for an organised, experienced and detail-focused Document Controller who can confidently manage large volumes of information within a construction environment.
     
    You will ideally have:

    Previous experience working as a Document Controller within construction.
    Previous experience using Trimble Viewpoint - essential.
    Strong experience managing construction drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
    A good understanding of document-control processes, revisions, approvals and workflows.
    Experience working with project, design and site teams.
    Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
    Strong organisational and time-management skills.
    Good Microsoft Office and general IT skills.
    The ability to manage multiple priorities and work to deadlines.
    Strong communication skills when dealing with internal and external project stakeholders.
