How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

We're currently recruiting for a "Stores Person" to join a very longstanding and stable company based in the Berkhamsted area, working from their site just off of the High Street. This is a contract position, full-time position and a great opportunity to join a global company that has a really established presence locally.

You'll be joining their warehouse and operations team, supporting both the manufacturing and distribution sides of the business. The role will involve everything from receiving and storing goods through to picking, packing and dispatching customer orders, as well as helping to manage stock levels and keeping everything organised and running smoothly.

This is going to be ideal for someone who enjoys a role that keeps them busy and moving, someone who is naturally organised, has great attention to detail and takes pride in getting things right. You'll need to be comfortable working at pace, getting stuck into the physical side of the role and working as part of a small, collaborative team.

Previous warehouse or stores experience would obviously be hugely advantageous, particularly if you've worked with stock control, stocktaking or dispatch processes before.

A Fork Lift Truck certificate or license is essential!

The role itself will be based fully at their Berkhamsted site, with the offices being around a 15-minute walk from Berkhamsted train station. There is also plenty of parking available on site.

What to expect day to day:

Goods In: Receive, unload and accurately store goods arriving at the warehouse, ensuring everything is recorded correctly.

Picking & Packing: Prepare customer orders for dispatch, ensuring products are packed safely and correctly and are ready to go out on time.

Stock Control: Carry out regular stocktaking and inventory checks, investigate discrepancies and report low stock levels where required.

Courier Coordination: Book deliveries with couriers and work closely with the customer service team to make sure orders are dispatched accurately and on time.

E-Commerce Support: Help with the distribution and fulfilment of products for the company's E-commerce platform.

IT & Administration: Keep accurate records of goods in and out using internal systems and Microsoft Outlook.

Health & Safety: Follow all relevant health and safety procedures, particularly when handling heavier goods.

Teamwork: Work closely with the wider warehouse, manufacturing and operations teams to keep everything running smoothly and contribute to a positive working environment.

Customer Service: Communicate professionally with customers, suppliers, couriers and other external partners when required.

What do we need from you:

Organisation & Accuracy: You'll need to be naturally organised, have excellent attention to detail and take pride in getting things right.

Warehouse Experience: Previous warehouse, stores, stock control or inventory experience would be a huge bonus, but we're open to candidates with relevant transferable experience.

IT Skills: Confident computer skills are essential, including a good working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook.

Communication: Good communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a small, friendly team.

Work Ethic: Someone reliable, hardworking and happy to work at pace in a role that can be physically demanding at times.

Qualifications: GCSEs including Maths and English.

Desirable: A Fork Lift Truck certificate.

Right to Work: You must have the right to live and work full-time in the UK.

Location: You'll need to be able to reliably commute to Berkhamsted, with the site being easily accessible from the town centre and train station.
