How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Title: Senior Software Engineer
     - Senior Software Engineer – C++
    Location: Enfield, London
    Salary: £60,000–£65,000, depending on experience
    Working pattern: Hybrid – three days on-site and two days from home

    The Opportunity
    An established technology and engineering organisation is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join its specialist Engineering Software Team in Enfield.

    This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of technically challenging software projects, working across the complete development lifecycle—from preliminary requirements and specification through to implementation, testing and verification.

    You will develop innovative software for new products and solutions while enhancing existing systems to meet technical and commercial requirements. Alongside hands-on software development, you will provide technical guidance to junior colleagues and collaborate with customers, suppliers and engineering partners.

    Key Responsibilities
    Design, develop, test and maintain high-quality software using C++.
    Take ownership of complete software designs or defined elements of larger engineering projects.
    Translate product and technical requirements into reliable software solutions.
    Manage software development activities from initial specification through to verification.
    Support, maintain and enhance existing software products.
    Produce clear technical documentation throughout the development lifecycle.
    Diagnose software issues and implement effective, maintainable solutions.
    Liaise with customers, suppliers and external collaborators on software-related matters.
    Provide technical advice and mentoring to less experienced engineers.
    Promote good engineering practices across the software team.
    Support wider engineering and project activities when required.About You
    To be successful in this role, you should have:

    Strong commercial software development experience using C++.
    Experience delivering software through the full development lifecycle.
    A sound understanding of software design, testing and verification.
    Experience using Microsoft Visual Studio 2022 or 2026.
    The ability to produce structured, maintainable and well-tested software.
    Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
    Clear written and verbal communication skills.
    A degree in software engineering, computer science or another relevant subject.Experience in the following areas would be advantageous:

    Graphical user interface development.
    User experience or human–computer interaction.
    Scripting languages such as Python or PowerShell.
    Supporting or mentoring junior software engineers.What’s on Offer?
