How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Title: Power Press Setter
    Location: Birmingham, Curdworth
    Salary During Training: £31,625 per annum including shift allowance
    Salary After Training: £33,581 per annum including shift allowance
    Hours: 38 hours per week - Permanent
    Shift Pattern: Rotating two-shift system
     
    An excellent opportunity has become available for an experienced Press Setter Operator to join a leading manufacturing business in Birmingham.
     
    The successful candidate will set and operate power presses and associated production machinery, ensuring components are manufactured safely, efficiently and to the required quality standards.

    Salary and Shift Allowance During Training – £14.07 per hour
    AM shift: £15.13 per hour, including a 7.5% allowance
    PM shift: £16.88 per hour, including a 20% allowance
    Average weekly earnings: Approximately £608.18
    Average annual salary: Approximately £31,625After Training – £14.94 per hour
    AM shift: £16.06 per hour, including a 7.5% allowance
    PM shift: £17.93 per hour, including a 20% allowance

    Average annual salary: Approximately £33,581Key Responsibilities
    Set and operate power presses ranging from 20 to 250 tonnes.
    Manufacture high-quality components to engineering drawings and specified tolerances.
    Complete tool changes, adjustments and machine set-ups using the appropriate tooling, jigs and fixtures.
    Perform first-off inspections and in-process quality checks using precision measuring equipment.
    Ensure products are manufactured to specification and meet the required quality standards.
    Work closely with Production Coordinators and Engineers to maximise efficiency and minimise downtime.
    Follow production schedules and achieve daily output targets.
    Maintain accurate production and traceability documentation.
    Identify and report machine faults or production issues promptly.
    Support the training and development of colleagues where required.
    Maintain excellent housekeeping standards and follow 5S principles.
    Work in accordance with all health and safety procedures.About You
    To be considered for this role, you will have:

    A minimum of two years’ experience setting and operating power presses within a manufacturing environment.
    Experience working with presses ranging from 20 to 250 tonnes.
    The ability to read engineering drawings and manufacture components to tight tolerances.
    Experience using measuring equipment such as verniers, micrometers and gauges.
    Good mechanical aptitude, including tooling changes and machine adjustments.
    Basic computer literacy.
    GCSEs or equivalent qualifications in Maths and English are desirable.Personal Attributes
