You’ll have the opportunity to work across a varied range of projects, from new installations and system upgrades through to fault finding, servicing and commissioning. The role would suit someone with a solid electrical background who takes pride in quality workmanship and enjoys solving technical problems.
Key Responsibilities
* Produce and amend fire alarm system drawings and layouts using CAD software.
* Carry out installation, commissioning, servicing and fault diagnosis of fire alarm systems.
* Work from electrical drawings, wiring diagrams and technical documentation to complete installations accurately.
* Inspect, test and verify fire alarm equipment, including detection devices, control panels, sounders, interfaces and associated power supplies.
* Work alongside contractors and other trades to coordinate fire alarm installations within new-build and refurbishment projects.
* Identify faults and implement effective solutions to keep systems operating safely and reliably.
* Complete service records, test documentation and other relevant project paperwork.
* Ensure installations and maintenance activities are carried out in line with applicable legislation, industry standards and site safety requirements.
* Assist with system alterations, extensions and upgrades where required.
* Provide professional technical assistance to customers, colleagues and other project stakeholders.
What We’re Looking For
* Previous experience working with fire alarm, fire detection or other life-safety systems.
* A strong electrical background, ideally gained within commercial, industrial or construction environments.
* Good understanding of electrical installation, testing and fault-finding principles.
* Confident reading electrical drawings, schematics and wiring diagrams.
* Experience using CAD or similar drawing software would be advantageous.
* Practical ability with standard hand and power tools and electrical test equipment.
* Knowledge of fire alarm regulations, relevant building requirements and industry standards.
* Strong attention to detail, particularly when testing, commissioning and documenting systems.
* Ability to manage tasks independently while also working effectively with site teams and contractors.
