How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    We are currently seeking a Contract Electrical Engineer for a role based in Leeds, Yorkshire. This opportunity is ideal for someone with a strong background in electrical supervision and a keen eye for safety and compliance within a complex operational environment. As part of this role, you will be responsible for overseeing LV electrical distribution systems, lighting, emergency lighting, fire alarms, generators, and UPS systems. Your expertise will support statutory electrical compliance, planned preventative maintenance, and managing specialist contractors. You'll produce technical specifications, review designs, and provide sound technical advice, ensuring everything aligns with current electrical legislation and safety standards. This position offers an excellent chance to apply your skills in a dynamic environment that values clear communication, technical competence, and a collaborative approach. **Requirements:**

    HNC in Electrical or Building Services Engineering

    BS7671 18th Edition (or demonstrable equivalent experience)

    Significant experience as an Electrical Engineer within complex operational estates such as Higher Education, NHS, or commercial environments

    Strong working knowledge of LV electrical distribution, lighting, emergency lighting, fire alarms, generators, and UPS systems

    Experience managing statutory electrical compliance and PPM activities

    Proven experience in managing specialist maintenance contractors and service contracts

    Ability to produce technical specifications, review designs, and offer technical advice

    Practical experience interpreting electrical drawings and technical documentation

    Knowledge of the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 and related legislation

    Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

    Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CAFM systems

    Ability to operate within an Authorised Person (AP) electrical safety management system

    **Desirable:**

    Degree qualification and/or IEng or CEng status

    Previous AP (LV) appointment

    Electrical inspection and testing qualifications (2391/2394/2395)

    Experience within a Higher Education estate

    Knowledge of HV systems, BMS, energy management, and renewable technologies

    Experience delivering capital projects
