How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Title: General Operative
    Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time
    Sector: Property Services
    Location: London Borough of Ealing
    Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00 am - 5:00 pm
    Salary: £38,202.50 per annum

    We have an opportunity for a skilled, reliable, and hardworking General Operative to join a dedicated housing repairs and maintenance team in Ealing.

    Responsibilities:

    Carrying out mould washes to help maintain clean, safe and well-presented properties.
    Installing fixtures such as curtains, blinds and door handles, drawing on basic maintenance experience and a keen eye for detail.
    Carrying out painting and decorating tasks, demonstrating strong organisational skills and taking pride in the quality of presentation.
    Fixing leaking waste pipes and carrying out minor plumbing repairs, using practical knowledge and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
    Replacing light bulbs and checking smoke alarms, demonstrating a proactive approach to property safety and compliance.
    Supporting cleaning and waste collection duties, with full training provided and opportunities to develop new skills.
    Working collaboratively within the Repairs and Maintenance team, demonstrating reliability, flexibility and strong teamwork.
    Delivering excellent customer service across all tasks, maintaining a professional, respectful and customer-focused approach.
    Communicating effectively with colleagues and residents, using clear verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills.
    Making decisions and resolving problems independently when required, demonstrating confidence, initiative and sound judgement.
    Maintaining high standards of health and safety, quality and cost control, while working in a methodical, reliable and professional manner.Requirements:

    Full UK Driving Licence (manual)
